چکیده

Abstract. In the recent past, an increase in computation resources led to development of regional climate models with increasing domains and resolutions, spanning larger temporal periods. A good example is World Climate Research Program – Coordinated Regional Downscaling Experiment for European domain (EURO-CORDEX). This set encompasses entire continent a 130-year common period until end 21st century, while having 12 km horizontal resolution. Such simulations are computationally demanding, at same time not always showing added value. study considers recently proposed metric order assess value EURO-CORDEX hindcast (1989–2008) historical (1971–2005) maximum minimum temperature over Iberian Peninsula. approach allows evaluation higher against driving lower resolutions relative performance whole or partial probability density functions by observational regular gridded dataset as reference. Overall, gains more relevant comparison temperature, partially due known problems derived from snow–albedo–atmosphere feedback. For local scales, areas near coast reveal interior, which displays limited sometimes notable detrimental effects values around ?30 %. At time, extremes reveals similar range, although coastal regions locations interior contrasting losses temperature.

Daily precipitation statistics in a EURO-CORDEX RCM ensemble: Added value of raw and bias-corrected high-resolution simulations

Daily precipitation statistics as simulated by the ERA-Interimdriven EURO-CORDEX regional climate model (RCM) ensemble are evaluated over two distinct regions of the European continent, namely the European Alps and Spain. The potential added value of the high-resolution 12 km experiments with respect to their 50 km resolution counterparts is investigated. The statistics considered consist of we...

Max-Min averaging operator: fuzzy inequality systems and resolution

Minimum and maximum operators are two well-known t-norm and s-norm used frequently in fuzzy systems. In this paper, two different types of fuzzy inequalities are simultaneously studied where the convex combination of minimum and maximum operators is applied as the fuzzy relational composition. Some basic properties and theoretical aspects of the problem are derived and four necessary and suffi...

Adaptive resolution min-max classifiers

A high automation degree is one of the most important features of data driven modeling tools and it should be taken into consideration in classification systems design. In this regard, constructive training algorithms are essential to improve the automation degree of a modeling system. Among neuro-fuzzy classifiers, Simpson's (1992) min-max networks have the advantage of being trained in a cons...

CORDEX – An international climate downscaling initiative

The World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) is backing an international initiative called the COordinated Regional climate Downscaling EXperiment (CORDEX). The goal of the initiative is to provide regionally downscaled climate projections for most land regions of the globe, as a compliment to the global climate model projections performed within the fifth Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (...

Fuzzy min-max neural networks - Part 2: Clustering

In an earlier companion paper [56] a supervised learning neural network pattern classifier called the fuzzy min-max classification neural network was described. In this sequel, the unsupervised learning pattern clustering sibling called the fuzzy min-max clustering neural network is presented. Pattern clusters are implemented here as fuzzy sets using a membership function with a hyperbox core t...
